I used this product last year in my pool. Last year I switched to a salt water pool and the guy that installed the pool recommended this to help keep the pool free of algae and protect the free chlorine in the pool. He said to use two bottles when opening the pool and two when closing the pool and 16oz per week during the season. After reading the directions and the dosage needed for the size of your pool per how many gallons, I needed only 8oz. So every week I took a measuring cup and dumped a cup per week. I never had any issues with algae all season and this was the first time I had the pool open so I was a little overwhelmed about being a pool owner. When I closed the pool last year I did add two whole bottles of this to the pool just as advised by the pool guy. Most pools is this area of the midwest were really dirty and mine was no different.Update: 6-1-18After opening the pool this year I adding two full bottles of this per the pool guys advise. I added the necessary salt and have so far not had any issues. The pool is very clear with no signs of algae. I even have a neighbor that used my pool guy this year and they have own pools for 20 years and have also had good luck and good things to say about this product keeping their pool clean and clear. I’m not sure if this product will work with regular chlorine pools but I’m sure someone can tell you. As for me I have had great luck with this keeping my pool clear and algae free.Update: 9-16-19After three years as a pool owner I have had good luck with this product. I have the same pool guy open and close my pool and two full bottles are used during the opening and closing. I have a little less that 15,000 gallon salt water pool and live in south MO. This year I have used this product less and forget to add it some weeks and just add two doses the next week. And still have a clean and clear pool. I noticed negative reviews and a question of integrity and validity of these reviews was brought up. I’m no pool expert, I’ve written several reviews on amazon and have felt fair in my honest opinion and I’m not paid my PoolTech or Amazon to say that. Now that said there’s one thing I’ve noticed by being new to pool ownership, all pools are different. Where you live in the US, different climates, temps, rainfall, how hard your water is, how much sun does the pool get all effects how much chemical you use. If this product doesn’t work in your pool it doesn’t work, there’s probably lots of factors as to why that is. I will say I have a great pool guy and his advise and knowledge is invaluable he has 30 years of pool and spa experience and the only time I didn’t use his advice was on the dosage because the guys at PoolTech probably also know what they are talking about. My brother is new pool ownership and he had so many issues with trying to clean us his pool. The pool store he was going to weren’t selling him the wrong product to clear up his pool it was how he administered that product. Once he went to another store and that guy gave him advice from 20 year knowledge his pool cleared up. So this is still a good product for me. Try it out if it works it works. If it doesn’t ask a pro as to why your pool is still dirty.
