Be careful not to confuse Melanotan-2 with melatonin. PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASS Melanotan Il is in the class of alpha melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH) mimetics. Alpha-MSH is produced in the pituitary, and activates alpha- melanocyte receptors. MT-II works in the same way. There are a number of subtypes of alpha-melanocyte receptors (MC1-5.) Melanotan Il is generally non-selective and activates multiple types. Activation of the MC1 receptor promotes skin pigmentation, while activation of the MC4 receptor can enhance tendency to penile erection. PT-141 is selective in comparison with the MC4 receptor and therefore promotes penile erection while having little or no effect on skin pigmentation. USAGE Melanotan-2 should be used after reconstitution (mixing): act of dissolving freeze dried powder into a sterile liquid medium ready for injection or into a spray for nasal administration. This can be accomplished with either sterile injectable water, sodium chloride or bacteriostatic water. Actual injection takes place by pinching the skin loose from the muscle and raising it so that a needle can be inserted between the skin and muscle. This is not a deep injection and melanotan should be injected in the fat layer of the skin. You also need to consider your injection site, the most popular is the stomach, followed by the leg and buttocks. If you have a low body fat percentage you may have to inject at a 45 degree angle or use short needles. If you can pinch a small amount of fat then you can inject at a 90 degree angle. DOSAGE INFORMATION The recommended typical dosage for starting of treatment is 0.025 mg/kg for both purposes: tanning skin or treatment of erectile dysfunction. Such dosage allows the body to acclimatize to the peptide and minimize the side effects. You can continue with this dose indefinitely if you are intending to do a low dosage regimen.If you are prescribed to increase the dosage up to 0.05 mg/kg, you can do it after 2-4 days, whenever you feel comfortable. The dosage also can be increased as far as about 1mg/kg but any higher is generally not advised and the users dosing 1mg/dose normally weigh around the 100kg mark. Don’t use dosage over 2mg/kg. SIDE EFFECTS Patients should strictly follow the recommended prescription of the drug including the dose and the duration of taking the drug to avoid all side effects. Overdose can lead to some changes in a human body such as blood pressure and heartbeat rate increases, liver and kidney damages, and severe pain in the body. Some other side effects are reported by patients such as dark-colored areas in various sizes on all over the body, severe headache, nausea, skin reddening at the injection site. Furthermore, there can theoretically be a possible reduction of cardio-vascular enb system, and loss of self- protection function of the body.
